Real Food Company
began in 1969 when the first store opened in a converted laundromat just above the Carl Street trolley line. Business developed quickly, and in response to increasing demand, a store was opened on Polk Street between Broadway and Vallejo in 1976.
We strive for excellence, both in product selection and quality, as well as in the level of service we provide to the public. Managers and buyers are experienced and trained in Natural Foods merchandising and customer service.
Our products must meet the generally accepted requirements of the Natural Foods Industry, namely that they will be free of artificial additives, preservatives and colors; that they are minimally processed and composed of ingredients which are likewise free of artificial additives, preservatives or adulteration.
Whenever possible, we support organic and sustainable agriculture
, and environmentally sensitive consumerism. We see ourselves as a link between the considerate production of natural food products and the growing numbers of our neighbors who are seeking to participate in supporting that process.
The goal of Real Food Company is to provide our neighbors natural food products they can trust in a manner which strives for the greatest possible harmony with nature and among ourselves.
